My name is Erin and I live in the Greater Hamilton area with my husband, two sons and West Highland Terrier, Oliver. My transition into motherhood was early and fast as I struggled through an emergency c-section after a routine ultrasound and then spent 5 weeks in the NICU forcing me to exclusively pump. It wasn't what I imagined at all. But my story wasn't unique - yours is because it's yours. After my second was also born premature I knew I needed to support women postpartum and landed here. Providing rest and support to new parents when they need it most because as I always tell my clients you deserve rest too. xo
When both of my children were born premature I spent weeks in the NICU holding them and pumping my milk at their bedsides.
All of the advice I received about bringing home a brand new baby was lost on me when my baby couldn’t suck or swallow due to his low birth weight. I vividly remember walking around SnuggleBugz in Burlington just weeks postpartum trying to hold it together when picking up a breast pump part. I didn't need any of those stupid baby items. I just wanted my baby home.
It was then I realized what I already knew in my own life that so much of motherhood is out of your control and what one of my mentors always said, “you don’t know what you don’t know”. I spent the next few weeks trying to learn everything I could about premature babies, infant and child development and paediatric sleep.
When my second was born premature I knew more but was so overcome with anxiety in the middle of a global pandemic that the resources and support readily available was limited.
It was then that I knew I needed to become the resource and support person for when parents need it most.
